Welcome back to the 3rd installment of THIS WEEK AT VSBL! I don't have much an of an update for y'all on the product, however I'll mention we're still hard at work on the Product Design Consistency plan. We've also started to test the Shifts update, and I can say it's looking SUPER GOOD! I'll talk more on this next week.
We currently support iOS devices on iOS 11+, but due to new improvements in our application, we will no longer support iOS versions before iOS 13 with our upcoming Shifts update. Please reference the list below and ensure your restaurant's devices are updated & ready to support the new version. As a team, we know how this may impact your business and do not take the decision lightly - but to offer you the best product possible it was a necessary change.
If your device is not listed above, it won't be supported in the update. Please make sure to check! Below I've added some help articles by Apple to assist you.
Find the Software version on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod
Find the model of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch
Alright, that's all I have for y'all. Now I'll hand it over to Lesley & Alex to give updates on our Community & Development Teams.
We have some plans brewing in the Community Team! Our primary focus is laying the groundwork for an improved onboarding experience. Additionally, we're in the process of crafting new help articles to provide better assistance for you and your team. On top of all this, we're making great progress in creating and finalizing content for our new website (and let me tell you, it looks SO COOL).
This is the last official week of "21 DAYS OF FUN"! We've had a blast with multiple giveaways and shared plenty of goodies in our Facebook Group, "VSBL Community." You still have time to join us for some fun
Shifts has been a development feat to say the least but this week we are finally able to deploy a fully working version of shifts for internal testing. Why is this good? Because it means we are on schedule for our release date later this month. The better testing goes, the faster we get Shifts out and the higher quality it will be.
Testing goes through a few different phases, internal being Phase 1. This is when the development team hands the product off to the other members of the VSBL team for rigorous testing against our requirements. From here they’ll test for functional bugs, edge cases, and how the app feels in the hand.
During this phase the development team will iterate quickly on the product as a means to push testing forward.
Once this phase is done, we’ll push towards Phase 2: External Testing Teams. This is where members of our community are asked to participate in testing a functioning, but not perfect, product. They bring valuable real world feedback which helps us wrap up the final legs of development.
The final phase is polish and experience. Here we focus more on how it feels to use VSBL rather than bugs within the app. Those should have been squashed by now. Once these phases are complete, we will be ready to deploy to masses!
We are currently in Phase 1: Internal Testing which puts us on schedule for our October release date!
I’ll have more to share as we dive into the future testing phases but for this week, just know that Shifts is well on it’s way and we can’t wait to get it in your hands.
We'll be back next week with more updates.
